Renowned author Dr. Vivien “Viv” Newman will be speaking at The Tank Museum on October 29, 2025, as part of a half-term program celebrating women in warfare.

Newman is an historian and writer specializing in social history and, in particular, women’s service during World War I. In her short lecture, Cogs in the Machinery of War, she will discuss the vital role women played in both world wars.
The Tank Museum‘s education manager, Nicola Burgess, said: “We’re delighted to have Dr. Viv Newman with us to share stories of women working in the munitions factories of wartime Britain. This talk is part of our October half-term offer, which includes activities, trails and talks highlighting the often untold and overlooked stories of women in warfare.”
The Tank Museum’s Women in Warfare program runs over the October half-term, from October 25 to November 2, 2025, with activities and talks included in your general entry ticket.
