Tiger Day Autumn is among the most highly-anticipated events of the year for tank and military enthusiasts alike, and the Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset, United Kingdom, is getting attendees hyped up by teasing the array of World War II-era vehicles that’ll be taking to the outdoor arena alongside Tiger 131.

Tiger Day Autumn and its sister event, Tiger Day Spring, are dedicated to Tiger 131, a German Tiger I tank that was captured by the Western Allies in Tunisia during the Second World War. Of the more than 1,300 that were built during the conflict, Tiger 131, which calls the Tank Museum its home, is the only surviving example you can see it action.
That’s right: this 1940s-era behemoth still runs.

While Tiger 131 will undoubtedly be the star of the show, it won’t be the only tank from WWII to make an appearance at Tiger Day Autumn. Along with the M4A2E8 Sherman Fury, famous for starring in the 2013 Brad Pitt-led film Fury, the other tanks slated to make an appearance include a Matilda II, a Churchill Mk III and a Tank, Cruiser, Comet I (A34) – all of which came from Britain.
An M3 Grant – the British variant of the American-built M3 Lee – will also be attending the event, having been recently acquired by the Bannister Historic Armour Collection.
Speaking in a press release, Rich Dando, the Tank Museum’s social media and content executive, said:
“This exciting opportunity to see the world’s only running Tiger I in the arena – alongside a host of other rare vehicles in action-packed shows – draws visitors from around the world to the heart of Dorset.
“There’s nothing like the roar of the engines, explosive pyrotechnics and expert commentary – whether you’re a seasoned tank fan or a first-time visitor, there’s plenty for all to enjoy.”

Along with seeing tanks in actions, Tiger Day Autumn attendees will be able to check out the Tank Museum’s interactive exhibits, which bring the stories of tanks and their crews to life. Two lucky guests will also have the chance to ride in Tiger 131, thanks to a raffle and auction currently being held. Those close on September 1 and August 18, respectfully.
