Bringing History Back to Life: 16 Colorized Photographs of World War II

Colorization of photographs is one of many ways to bring history back to life – often into completely new life. This new kind of art shows us the true colours of old times, in this particular case about Wolrd War II. Details like the color of uniforms or marks on planes, or even hue of camouflage, is astonishing.

This colorization skill requires a substantial knowledge from the artist about the time that the photographs were first taken. Regularly he has to guess things like the colour of a soldier’s eyes or his hair.
