World War II officially came to an end in Europe on May 8, 1945, and World of Tanks is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the historic day. From a special PvE mission to a livestream with experts from The Tank Museum in Bovington, United Kingdom, the team behind the popular online game are marking the momentous occasion in a big way.

From May 6-13, 2025, users will be able to participate in a new player versus environment (PvE) limited edition mission, known as Operation Postman. Set during the final days of the Second World War, it charges players with delivering a key message about the end of the conflict to Allied troops behind enemy lines. To do so, they’ll have to navigate dangerous minefields.

During the mission, players will be able to enter combat in a camouflaged M24 Chaffee, supported by an international tank crew equipped with special abilities, including “Scout Around,” to perform reconnaissance on enemy positions, and “False Order,” to mislead enemy patrols.

Once the mission is completed, users will get to permanently keep the M24 in their collection.

On top of this special mission, World of Tanks will be offering players x5 XP multipliers for their first victory of the day. But there’s a catch: you have to play between 9:00 AM UTC on May 8 and 9:00 AM UTC on May 12.

Gold discounts on premium vehicles and credit discounts on equipment, researchable vehicles and consumables will also be offered during this time.

As well, at 3:00 PM UTC on May 10, Wargaming will be teaming up with The Tank Museum for a special Victory in Europe (VE) Day livestream. Jointly hosted by World of Tanks Head of Military Relations and Tank Regiment Veteran Richard Cutland and Nik Wyness, the Head of Marketing and Engagement at The Tank Museum, it’ll feature a variety of special guests who’ll discuss the conflict, the significance of VE Day and how armor evolved during this period.
