Amazing Dogfight, Mustang Versus Zero, Japanese Perspective

The film named ‘Eternal Zero’ is about a fictional Japanese pilot, Kyuzo Miyabe, and his career flying through the skies during World War 2. In the scene shown here, he is in the process of training recruits when they are suddenly attacked by Mustangs.

This is a Japanese war drama film made in 2013 and is directed by Takashi Yamazaki. He based this film on a novel that was written by Naoki Hyakuta which tells the tale of a young Kentaro Oshi who is unsure of his future in 2004. Following the burial of his grandmother (Matsuno) he learns from his older sibling and mother that the person he thought was his grandfather (Kenichiro) was not actually a blood relation of his.

Following this revelation Kentaro and his sister learn of stories about their true grandfather who was a pilot in the Japanese Imperial Navy. They go on to visit some of Kyuzo’s former fellow soldiers, many of whom state that Kyuzo was a coward. Kentaro visits another of his grandfather’s comrades, Izaki, who is dying in hospital and learns from him the true reason his grandfather decided to become a Kamikaze pilot.

This is a really awesome dogfight scene from the movie.
