Grandmother receives three war medals after 70 years

Rosana Banti is about to turn 90 years old and is finally receiving recognition for helping with the Resistance.

Banti will be presented with three medals at a ceremony at the British embassy: the Italy Star, the Victory Medal and the 1939-1945 Medal.

Banti worked with the cloak-and-dagger unit from September 1943 until the end of the war. Southern Italy and Rome had been liberated by the Allies, and the north was still occupied by German and Italian fascist troops, The Telegraph reports.
