Review by Mark Barnes for War History Online

Here are a couple more of these bish-bash-bosh softbacks from an increasingly prolific author.  To my mind they make great starter books for young readers or anyone new to our world. They are reasonably priced and have quite enough to look at. The illustrations are all in mono and come from a mixture of sources including Signal and suchlike. Some are familiar. There is nothing particularly challenging on offer here.

I hope Mr Carruthers takes no offence from my description – they do a job of work very competently and get us on the ladder. There are lots of facts and details and the images are OK given the format. This is the time of year when books like this make ideal Christmas stocking fillers. They come in at a thrifty £9.99, but – as ever, you will find them cheaper on your favourite bookseller site. My mum and dad got me books in a similar vein back in the day, so I think I’ve got this spot on. They keep up a fine tradition and I can’t say any farer than that. Nuff said.
