I had a photography job at BRE, the former Building Research Establishment. I had the opportunity to photograph the scale model of the Mohne Dam Barnes Wallis had built there to test explosives prior to the Dams Raid of May 1943 when he first began experimenting with ideas to breach the dam. The BRE is very proud of the role it played in Operation Chastise and rightly so and it was a thrill to see this very special model which is carefully maintained. I feel very lucky to have seen it so close to the seventieth anniversary of the attack on the dams.
