This TANKFEST Preview Day, The Tank Museum giving up to 80 guests the opportunity to step behind the scenes of The Tank Museum’s new workshop and restoration facility.

In a full day of restoration themed activities, you’ll find out how The Tank Museum conserves, restores and maintains it historic fleet of vehicles.

Led by Bob Darwood and Jonathon Kneebone, the stars of our Matilda Diaries YouTube series, you can be among the first to see our newly restored Matilda II as they describe the challenges they overcame on the project.

Then, you’ll be introduced to our next major project: the iconic British Churchill tank, before a tour of our new Heritage Lottery Funded Workshop Facility by our Workshop Manager.

Following this, you’ll enjoy a closer examination of a number of the vehicles previously restored by our talented team, including the Panzer III and the Valentine and hear from the experts who undertook the work.

There will also be the chance to meet the owners of private tank collections, who will be sharing their passion for the conservation of historic machines and showing you their tanks – including two newly restored First World War FT-17s.

With lunch and refreshments included, there will also be the chance to watch some tank displays in the tank arena from the comfort of a grandstand seat.
