An Irish family has been promised that a UK search team will begin scouring the Egyptian desert next month for the remains of a long-lost relative who was a World War Two fighter pilot.
The Cork-based Pryor-Bennett family were left devastated last August by the confirmation that human remains found near the wreckage of an RAF fighter plane were not those of Fl Sgt Denis Copping.
Carbon-dating indicated the remains are in fact “significantly older” than the World War Two era.
A UK team is to begin a detailed search of the desert around the site in October.
The pilot failed to return to base in his Curtiss Kittyhawk fighter in 1942.
